Tafta proudly celebrating the run-up to 60 years

2017-08-01

In celebration of The Association for the Aged (Tafta’s) 60th anniversary next year, the organisation kicks off a milestone affair at an exclusive event next month.

The red carpet event, scheduled to take place on Friday August 11, at Suncoast CineCentre, marks the official launch of Tafta’s latest cinema advertisement.

The iconic non-profit organisation, which has been serving KwaZulu-Natal’s senior citizens for more than five decades, has helped care for more than 7500 pensioners.

Committed to alleviating the stress of the elderly and enhancing their quality of life, Tafta has cemented its reputation as a leader in providing safe, sheltered housing and care for elderly people in need within the EThekwini region.

“We have indeed come a long way and this would only have been possible through the hard work and dedication from our committed team â€" from management right through to the volunteers who selflessly give off their time to make a significant difference to the lives of our residents.

In addition, Tafta would not enjoy the levels of unprecedented success we have achieved in Durban without the support of our long-standing donor and stakeholder communities. The role they play in allowing us to take our services out to affected communities is unparalleled and for this, Tafta salutes you! “says CEO Femada Shamam.

According to Shamam, the cinema advertisement, which will flight for the first time at the movie screening event, is an exciting first for the organisation as it will share a touching representation of the organisation’s work and its relevance in the viewer’s journey through life.

“Our guests will have the opportunity to reflect on our promise to care for an aging society and continue the dialogue on 60 years of past and the roles Tafta has played in advancing our community work and advocacy,” said Shamam.

In an environment of diminishing state support, it is through investments and on-going support from donors and the broader public that will determine Tafta’s sustainability in elderly care and in accomplishing its vision.

Tafta calls on you to join in their circle. Get involved; join us for a fun-filled evening with friends old and new, as we enjoy snacks and mingling, followed by latest Hollywood delight, The Circle, starring Tom Hanks and Emma Watson.

In addition, Platinum Destinations, is sponsoring one lucky guest a chance to secure a seven night relaxing family holiday for four at Cayley Lodge, valued at R10 000.00. Terms and conditions apply.
