KwaZulu-Natal economy walking, not running.

The KwaZulu-Natal economy slowed somewhat over the last few months, but given slowdown in the world economy and the province's links to the Eastern and European economies through its ports, it was to be expected. And although growth is slowing down, there is still no threat of a recession in KwaZulu-Natal.

The slowdown in growth is evident in the latest KwaZulu-Natal barometer, as compiled by Mike Schussler of Economists.co.za, which grew by 7.1% year-on-year, the slowest growth in 16 months. Economic growth in KwaZulu-Natal slowed to 4% year-on-year in February after growing at more than 8% in the first half of last year.
