KZNYIS Team at Work2017-06-05 Annually, the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education conducts district-based career exhibitions throughout the Province.
The aim of the exhibitions is to provide information to Grade 11 and 12 learners about the various career options that they can choose to follow following the completion of their schooling. A varied selection of businesses and organisations, including professional bodies and sector education and training authorities, exhibit at each venue. In addition, a range of educational institutions provide information regarding courses and the application process required. Information regarding funding and bursary opportunities provided through host municipalities, the provincial government and other organisations is also on hand. The KZN Youth International Scholarship team members have been attending these exhibitions in order to explain the opportunities available to learners and to educate their teachers. This is especially important in areas where career guidance resources are limited. Mandeni in the Ilembe District Municipality was recently host to a broader range of project committee members in order that they could engage with the students and obtain a firsthand experience of the career exhibitions. The news of the international opportunities has been received with much excitement and interest. The KZN Youth International Scholarship team looks forward to seeing more students taking up these offers in the future. |
