NOTES ON PUBLICATION
The KwaZulu-Natal Top Business Portfolio's prides itself on being the business and investment guide of choice for the Province. First published in March 1999, this 14th edition is again endorsed by the Premier's Office of KwaZulu-Natal, the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development and Tourism, His Majesty King Zwelithini as well as the KwaZulu-Natal Business Chamber Council and its member organisations.
In line with the provincial strategy of promoting a green economy, this year we have gone green too. We take great pleasure in highlighting the various green initiatives underway in the province's government departments, municipalities and businesses. We would especially like to thank Sappi for the wonderful Triple Green sugar bagasse paper that this edition is printed on - our contribution to a greener world.
Apart from a special feature on the green economy, this edition includes an overview of the province's assets and its economy as well as its vital role as a logistics and transport hub in the southern African region. The Government pages include brief profiles of Premier Zweli Mkhize, the members of the executive council and highlight some of the flagship government projects underway in the province. The Top Business Portfolio aims to emphasize business success and this is evidenced in the variety of companies profiled. Their business concerns not only show the variety, depth and vibrancy of KwaZulu-Natal's economic sectors but provide employment and contribute to the social well being of the province's people.
The KwaZulu-Natal Top Business Portfolio is produced in a printed form, on a multimedia interactive CDRom and as an e-book on our website www.topbusiness.co.za which may be downloaded. In order to ensure that comprehensive information on KwaZulu-Natal is made available, our web site has additional material to the book which is regularly updated with business news and opportunities. Sections such as features, infrastructure, economic sectors and profiles of the local municipalities as well as their integrated development plans are included. The DVD collection on KwaZulu-Natal and each of its district municipalities has proven to be a much viewed and valued resource.
The website includes a range of links to relevant provincial government, municipal and business websites which increase traffic flow. The continued focus on website optimisation ensures our high internet ranking. Also visit our Facebook page to remain updated on current events and news.
