SOUTH COAST CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY
THE SOUTH COAST CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND
INDUSTRY
It is once again a pleasure to write a message for the KZN TBP. It is without doubt the most comprehensive magazine that describes the various sectors of business in our province.
The past year saw purse strings easing up and a more relaxed approach to spending. The South Coast of KZN, the domain of the South Coast Chamber, has also witnessed business sentiment at both extremes on the scale of confidence. Many businesses have suffered during the recession and continue to do so. Other businesses are enjoying sustained growth, after having come through the past few years relatively unscathed. Generally, the sentiment is growing more positive, but we do not yet have reasons to celebrate.
Our advice to commerce and business is to understand the dynamics that affect the barriers to the socioeconomic growth and then prepare to meet those challenges with an attitude that refuses to fail.
Closer to home, the South Coast Chamber has aggressively worked to help our members and the greater business community to meet the demands of business by actively working with all of the organisations that come into our radar. To name some of them : Productivity SA, Business Partners, KZN Growth Fund, SEDA, TIKZN, SARS, SAPS and local government. In this regard, the South Coast Chamber encourages greater participation and engagement by all businesses both big and small. The need for meaningful public and private sector partnerships can never be overemphasized and significant progress has been made in the development of these relationships.
The South Coast Chamber of Commerce and Industry will expand its own horizons during this period and it will act as a "gateway" to benefits, services and opportunities for our members; while we responsibly provide a united and collective voice to the public sector for improved levels of service delivery, increased performance, transparency, responsibility and accountability.
Our call to businesses and investors all over the country is to come and see what the South Coast has to offer. To say that we have everything that a business needs to succeed is pretty close to the truth. We may not have it all the answers, but be assured that our limitless access to these resources beg that you take another look.
Congratulations to the KZN Top Business Portfolio for serving as an excellent vehicle to take these and all the other thoughts, ideas and sentiments of business to the decision-makers in our province and beyond.
President: South Coast Chamber of Commerce and Industry
